Last day of Movember

The final photos from the studio Movember.

Movember half time update

Movember is in full flow in the Nzime studio with some of us having more success than others (I blame my youth and fair hair). Ed came in sporting an impressive handlebar moustache earlier in the week which caused quite a stir on the train. Movember 2011

It’s Movember, the month formerly known as November, now dedicated to growing moustaches and raising awareness and funds for men’s health; specifically prostate and testicular cancer. Here at Nzime we donating our top lips to the cause for 30 days in an effort to help change the face of men’s health. Our Mo will spark conversations, and no doubt generate some laughs; all in the name of raising vital awareness and funds for cancer’s affecting men.

Why are we so passionate about men’s health?
* 1 in 9 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime
* This year 37,000 new cases of the disease will be diagnosed
* 1 in 2 men will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime
* 26% of men are less likely to go the doctor compared to women

Buzzed by the blimp….

Lou’s other half dropped by earlier to say hello in style! Not everyday you get your very own air display over central Nottingham.

Nzime @ the Nottingham Panthers Game

Living by the rule of work hard, play hard, some of us took some time out last night to watch the GMB Nottingham Panthers play Coventry Blaze in the Challenge Cup. The Panthers played an amazing game with a 10 – 1 victory that didn’t disappoint the fans.

Panthers mascot Paws took some time out his busy schedule for a quick photo.

End of the final period with a glorious Panthers 10 – Blaze 1 on the score board.

Nzime at Silverstone MotoGP

Over the weekend some of us took a little time out away from the screens to get some much needed, high speed, motorbike action at the Silverstone MotoGP. The weather on Saturday was beautiful for qualifying, with some of us looking a similar colour to Rossi’s Ducati by the end of the day.

Unfortunately it wasn’t so friendly on Race Day with heavy rain and harsh winds, it didn’t stop the fans from turning out in their masses though. The Riders braved the treacherous conditions to put on a great show with some fairing better than others.

Congratulations to Colin Edwards who came an amazing 3rd despite breaking his collar bone the week before.

Nzime Sega Rally Arcade

After the successful installation of the Fooseball table into the Nzime studio. We thought we needed to up our game a bit and bring back some Retro Arcade gaming into our lives.

Let the Nzime Sega Rally championship commence!

Go-Karting on Ice and Christmas Party

Each year, after all the hard work, we like to have a good old knees up and a bit of friendly(ish) competition. This year we decided a spot of winter Go-Karting would be a suitable platform for us to pitch our competitive natures against each other. Some of us were worried that adverse weather conditions would threaten the event as heavy snow started to fall over Nottingham. But a bit of snow, freezing conditions and black ice wasn’t going to stop us. We equipped ourselves with multiple pairs of gloves, waterproof race suits and the courage of fools to see who is the true driving champion/s.

After a 1 hour endurance race in sub freezing temperatures and an track that would rival the Nottingham Ice Arena the results were as follows:

  1. John and Sam
  2. Darren and Laura T
  3. Al and Rhian
  4. David and Simon
  5. Jonno and Laura K
  6. Andrew and Barbara
  7. Louisa and Ed

After defrosting and cleaning ourselves up we headed off to the Curry Lounge for lavish food and a few drinks:

Kinect Sports Facebook Application

The secret’s finally out! Over the past year we have been working with Rare and Microsoft Games Studios (MSG) on building  Rare.co.uk and now the official Facebook application to support the Xbox Kinect launch title Kinect Sports.

The press release went out just moments ago and we couldn’t be happier with what we have all achieved working alongside everyone at Rare and MSG. Rare have done an amazing job building a fantastically enjoyable game, leaving some of us in the studio resorting to deep heat after getting a little too competitive playing Kinect Sports yesterday (UK launch day).

The Facebook application allows anyone with Kinect Sports to join international leagues to put their skills up against the rest of the world,  create and join custom leagues with friends and view their Kinect Sports videos which can be uploaded via Kinect Share.

Just our long jump skills to work on now….

Studio Foosball

The brand spanking new Foosball table is now in place. The first two games resulted in lots of shouting, accusations of “luck” and in the end it was one game each. Everyone was suitably sweaty at the end. Now to name each of the players…
