Google launches new ad service

After it’s aquisition of DoubleClick there were various rumours on what Google would do with the popular ad serving network and today Google have announced their new display ad service that works similar to their AdWords and AdSense programs:

“We’ve been working hard to put these principles into practice, and today we’re excited to announce the new DoubleClick Ad Exchange, a step towards creating a more open display advertising ecosystem for everyone. The Ad Exchange is a real-time marketplace that helps large online publishers on one side; and ad networks and agency networks on the other, buy and sell display advertising space.

These publishers and ad networks manage and represent large volumes of ads and ad space from lots of advertisers and websites. By bringing them together in an open marketplace in which prices are set in a real-time auction, the Ad Exchange enables display ads and ad space to be allocated much more efficiently. This improves returns for advertisers and enables publishers to get the most value out of their online content.”

Increase traffic to your website

91k

We were pleased to see an impressive increase in visits to one of our clients websites today after a recent campaign we ran to drive more visitors to the site.
Up by 91,000% it exceeded even our expectations. Sometimes these things can go viral and traffic goes through the roof! Also a credit to our hosting service that the website didn’t go down under the strain of a sudden influx of traffic.

Nike really gets the value of analytics

Nike+

Nike’s Nike+ running analytics product gives them invaluable feedback and the customer is paying to give it to them!
Over 1.2 million runners use the data logging system to upload their running data to the Nike site which returns stats on their daily run, but also gives Nike the opportunity of analysing runners trends such as the average duration of a run worldwide (35 minutes) and the favourite ‘Power Song’ the runners use (Pump It by the Black Eyed Peas!).

From the mass of data that Nike is collating, they are able to put this back into product development and promotion.
Just another cool way of using analytics and website data to gain an understanding of your target market!

Wired have just posted a great article on this – check it out here.
