Studio Foosball

The brand spanking new Foosball table is now in place. The first two games resulted in lots of shouting, accusations of “luck” and in the end it was one game each. Everyone was suitably sweaty at the end. Now to name each of the players…

Bye bye Grafik Mag

Wow. All my career I have read grafik mag and to hear the news that it is ceasing publication is quite a shock, there are ripples of surprise throughout the community. Let’s hope they try and keep the digital version up and running. Good luck guys!

Should have had my Knox…

Bit daft of me not to be wearing these, think I have learnt my lesson that the new monkey trail at Cannock is a bit more tasty when it comes to speed so next time I will definitely be Knox protected. Lesson learnt the VERY sore way.

Rare is alive!

After months and months of super hard graft the Rare Ltd brand spanking new website is live. The whole team has really pulled together on this one with some serious time and dedicated hours being put in to make this happen. It’s a huge huge HUGE project for us and we are incredibly proud of the end product. Check it out.

Rare Web Teaser

So, as we initially mentioned a short while back we have been working with Rare on a very very VERY exciting project, as far as dream project’s go this is right up there (especially for the gamers in the studio). The teaser is up and there has been lot’s of hype and some very interesting theories as to what the countdown reveals. The guardian was one of many site’s to feature the teaser. Everyone will have to wait  and watch this space to see what the light is at the end of the teasing tunnel!

Check back soon to the blog to find out developments.

London Design Festival

london-pics

I went down to the big smoke on Friday to check out the Design Festival. As usual it was a very eclectic mix of design, which was scattered throughout London.

First off I went to the Kemistry Gallery to check out the exhibition celebrating Typographica magazine, if your not familiar it was first published in 1949 and founded by Herbert Spencer. It was a nice little collection of the journals and background of Typographica.

Then it was off to the SORT pop-up letterpress studio, these guys are fantastic. Just the two of them run their own studio and they both specialise in letterpress printing. The machinery they had was all reclaimed/sourced/bought and rebuilt with their own fair hands. I had a quick crash course in the basics, it has been something I have always had an interest in and will definitely be looking at getting myself a little Adana press. The little pop-up studio was great.

From there it was on to Brick Lane to Tent London, this was mainly a gathering of up and coming designers ranging in various disciplines, with the majority being product designers. It was worth a look about, if only for inspiration.

Then I made the trip over the Thames to the Design Museum which was celebrating its 20th birthday, a host of designers were there showing their support even Airsides Fred Deakin was on the turntables keeping everyone entertained via the silent disco. The main reason I was there was to see the great Neville Brody talk, he was inspirational (also turned up late) with his talk mainly centered around his Studios work, Research Studios and his work ethic, his style is still very unique and cutting edge.

I will definitely be making the journey same time next year, it was well worth the trip. The highlight for me being the Letterpress workshop. The only downside is how scattered the events and exhibitions are, you need a full day or two to get around what you want to see.

single track mind teepay tee

single track mind

I designed another tee for teepay and it has just made Staff Pick of the day and is going to print over on teepay its called “single track mind” and its a type heavy tee with the type being created from mountain bike parts. The idea being instead of peeps being labelled has having a “one track mind” you have a “single track mind” playing on the idea of peeps thinking about riding single tracks.

Also 10% of my money raised from the tee is going to The British Heart Foundation, even more reason to grab yourself one. Its available in Blue or White. Chuffed its made it to print!

Amazing Scratch Perverts Video Short

Neurosonics Audiomedical Labs Inc. from Chris Cairns on Vimeo.

This blew my mind. Amazing video short featuring the one and only Scratch Perverts. So so good. Still got the skills to pay the bills. Although Tony Vegas is looking a bit old these days.
